Herb Brooks has been a member of the County Board since 2008. Previously, he served as County Board Speaker from 2012 to 2014 and Democratic Caucus Chair from 2014 to 2016.
Herbert and his wife, Gwen, have been married since November 1, 1974.  He and Gwen are the parents of five children and nine grandchildren.  A graduate of LaSalle University of Chicago with a Bachelor Degree in Business and John Marshall Law School with a certificate of completion in Social Law, Chicago.

Herbert has been Pastor of St. John M. B. Church since May, 1990.
