Charles "Chuck" Maher, District 4 (R-Naperville)

           After his election to the board in 2002, Charles Maher initially focused on three areas:  ensuring a full return on the investment of tax dollars made by Will County ’s northernmost residents, keeping electric and other utility services affordable and reliable countywide and improving roads and other transportation infrastructure needed by rapidly growing suburbs.

            As chairman of the county board’s ad hoc Utilities & Energy Resource Committee, he was instrumental in securing a commitment by Commonwealth Edison to create a new executive post – vice president of new business – to ensure high level corporate attention to Will County electric service as rapid growth increases demand on existing infrastructure.  He is currently chair of the Capital Improvements Committee and vice-chair of the Finance Committee.  He also has a seat on the Executive Committee.

            Mr. Maher is also the Wheatland Township Republican Committeeman and belongs to both the Naperville and Bolingbrook Chambers of Commerce.  He was appointed by former Governor Jim Edgar to the state’s Professional Counselor Licensing Board, which he previously chaired, and served as past president of the West Suburban Irish.

            Professionally, he is president of C&M Consulting, an education and mental health services firm whose clients include Live Text, a company that helps universities nationwide implement Internet-based online educational tools for faculty and students. 

            Married and the father of four, and a grandfather of twins, Mr. Maher remains active in the lives of his children.  He is member of the School District 204 PTA and has coached his daughters’ cheerleading squads.
