Check will kickstart Sept. fundraiser for Children’s Advocacy Center
JOLIET – Officials from the Will County Board today accepted a $10,000 check from Citgo to help fund the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), an arm of the Will County State’s Attorney’s office. The funds will be used to underwrite the only fundraising event of the year for the CAC, “Men Who Cook,” to be held September 22 at the Chicagoland Speedway.
“We are grateful to Citgo for its contribution to the effort to help children in our county who have been abused,” said County Board Member Mike Fricilone (R-Homer Glen). “The good work of the CAC inproviding counseling services to children is vital to our county.”
The CAC provides critical forensic advocacy and counseling services to abused children in Will County. Last year the agency provided services in nearly 560 new cases for children who were abuse victims.
“I am proud of the good work done by the CAC,” said County Board Minority Leader Herb Brooks (D-Joliet). “There is no service that is greater than helping children who are abused and neglected.”
