JOLIET -- As construction gets set to begin on a new Health Department facility for Will County, the County Board has entered into a project labor management agreement (PLA) that is designed to ensure high quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness. The county board inked the agreement with, the Three Rivers Construction Alliance, the Will and Grundy Counties Building Trades Council and Leopardo Inc during its October board meeting.
The resolution, called “Blueprint for Success” calls for creation of a joint labor management committee that must meet at least once each month to review quality, cooperation, safety, working conditions, training, and others matters effecting productivity and efficiency on the project.
“We want to make sure that the taxpayers are getting the best product for the best price and this Project Labor Agreement assures us of that,” said Will County Board Finance Committee Chair Mike Fricilone. The Finance Committee will oversee expenditures of the new $25 million Health Department Building.
The Will County Health Department is responsible for fostering a healthy environment in the county and for preventing the spread of disease.
“This new 60,000 square foot building will be a state-of-the-art facility that will help our health department achieve its overarching goals of providing for a healthier safer environment for all the residents of our county,” said Beth Rice (D-Bolingbrook).
County Board Speaker Jim Moustis added, “This project is too big and too important to let any detail go unchecked for quality and cost effectiveness.”
