County Board Chairman Jim Moustis welcomes you...

As Chairman of the Will County Board, I invite you to participate in building a great future for our county.   This website is provided by your county board as a way to help citizens stay informed about decisions we are making.   Please use this information and the communication tools you find here to participate in the work of the county board.  Let us know what you think and how you think we should vote.

Will County is one of the nation's fastest growing counties.  With growth comes challenges.  The decisions we make today about holding the line on spending, increasing economic development to help support our schools and putting into place good transportation infrastructure will have lasting consequences.

We are working hard to make this county a better home for everyone.

Jim Moustis
Chairman
Will County Board

About the Will County Board

As the policy-making body of county government, the Will County Board does touch the lives of residents in important ways.  The budgets we establish distribute your hard earned tax dollars to fund county agencies providing roads, community health programs, courts, police protection, jails, workforce training, victim-witness programs and veterans assistance to name a few. We set the budgets for all county agencies and play a key role in transportation issues (including road building and airports), most notably the airport proposed for eastern Will County. We plan for commercial and residential development by planning for transportation, land use and zoning, while maintaining modern building codes for the protection of the public.

Will County operates under the county executive form of government, in which the county executive is elected at large and is responsible for day to day administration and the county board is the legislative body responsible for setting policy. The Will County Board has 27 members, 3 each from 9 districts. It represents unincorporated areas of Will County.

The county board is only as successful as the people of Will County wish it to be.  You can help ensure that the work we do is in the best interests of your family and all the people of Will County by voting, understanding the important issues before the board and communicating with your elected County representatives. This web site is dedicated to helping citizens participate in county government by keeping them informed and by letting them know how they can influence our decisions for the better.
