About the Will County BoardThe Will County Board consists of 22 members, two each from 11 districts. Will County operates under the County Executive form of government, in which the County Executive is elected at large and manages the day-to-day administration of county operations, while the County Board serves as the legislative body, responsible for determining funding levels for these operations and establishing certain policies. County Board Members represent all citizens within their districts, regardless of whether they live in a municipality or an unincorporated area. Actions taken by the County Board have a direct impact on operations, facilities, and services that impact citizens countywide or in unincorporated areas.
The Will County Board impacts the lives of residents in important ways. The budgets the County Board establishes annually distribute tax dollars to fund county agencies that build and maintain roads, provide important community health programs, and support our local veterans. The County Board also funds countywide law enforcement operations for our Sheriff’s Department, our local Courts, and the Will County Adult Detention Facility. In addition, the County Board prepares for commercial and residential development by planning for transportation needs, addressing land use and zoning issues, and establishing building codes and local ordinances that protect the public. |
