“Larry was among the most dedicated public servants I’ve had the privilege to know,” said Winfrey. “I’m honored to carry on his legacy till the voters select a new County Executive at the polls in November.”
“Denise Winfrey is the perfect choice for the replacement of the County Executive,” said County Board Minority Leader Mike Fricilone (R-Homer Glen). “She is up to speed on all of our policy issues and is well positioned to help us navigate the next six months until an elected County Executive is sworn in.”
County Board members will select a replacement for the position of Speaker at their next board meeting.
The Will County Democratic Central Committee will select a replacement for Winfrey’s County Board seat. That replacement will serve the remainder of Winfrey’s term which also ends in November. Winfrey represents the 8th District in Joliet and will be on the ballot for that County Board seat on election day.
“We have an election coming in a few months,” said Winfrey. “The measures we are taking will make sure that county government continues to run smoothly until the people go to the polls.”
