Board calls on residents to fight hunger, donate to local pantries

Non-perishable food items to be collected at September Board Meeting

JOLIET, IL- The Will County Board today called on residents to help them feed the hungry by donating to local pantries and food banks in recognition of Hunger Action Month. Board members will be collecting non-perishable food items at Thursday's board meeting along with other needed donations.

"I am asking your help in our efforts proclaiming September as Hunger Action Month," said Speaker Jim Moustis. "At the September Board Meeting, we will collect bags of non-perishable groceries, school supplies, paper products, diapers, personal hygiene products, and gift cards to local grocery stores. All donations will be used in the Will County area. If you are unable to attend, please drop-off your donations at the County Building sometime this month."

District 7 Board members invite residents to join them for pizza and conversation

County Board representatives from District 7 (Homer Glen, Lockport, New Lenox) to update residents, answer questions on Sept. 22

JOLIET, IL- Will County Board members representing residents in Homer Glen, Lockport and New Lenox today invited them to learn more about county initiatives on September 22 from 7 to 9am at Chesdan's Pizzeria in Homer Glen. Complimentary pizza and drinks will be served, and residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know their elected officials.

"We want to provide an opportunity for the public to meet with us and discuss any topic related to the county's activities," said board member Steve Balich (R-Homer Glen). "I believe it's essential for residents to know exactly how their tax dollars are being spent and for elected officials to transparently account for every single one of them. We look forward to seeing many of our constituents on September 22."

Board members invite public to join them for coffee and conversation

Bolingbrook, Romeoville representatives to update residents on county projects, answer their questions on Sept. 19

JOLIET, IL- Will County Board members from Bolingbrook and Romeoville today invited local residents to meet with them to learn more about county initiatives on September 19 from 8 to 10am at Cali Girl Cakes in Bolingbrook. Complimentary coffee and pastries will be served, and residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know their elected officials.

"There are several significant county projects either underway or in the planning stages, and we want to make sure our residents stay updated and have the opportunity to get their questions answered," said board member Beth Rice (D-Bolingbrook). "I have always believed an informed public is essential in order for democracy to work properly, and this is the purpose for our meeting."
