JOLIET, IL- Will County Board members Ragan Freitag (R-Wilmington) and Don Gould (R-Shorewood), working with State's Attorney James Glasgow, recently secured funding for a K-9 drug detection dog for the Wilmington Police Department. The announcement comes as the Wilmington Coalition for a Healthy Community is seeking funds to help police fight back against the heroin epidemic.

"Elected officials at all levels of government must work together and partner with local community groups if we want to turn the tide of drug-induced homicides," said Freitag. "This is a fine example of just that, and I applaud everyone involved that is committed to keeping citizens safe in both my hometown of Wilmington as well as across Will County."

County launches construction of major capital projects

Officials celebrate groundbreaking of Public Safety Complex for Sheriff's Office, 911 Center, ETSB

Picture
JOLIET, IL- Will County officials today gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Public Safety Complex and mark an important milestone for the construction of several major capital projects over the next four to five years. The new home for the Sheriff's Office, 911 Dispatch Center and Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) could open by the end of next year.

"This project marks a significant step forward for our county, as we work to build safe and modern facilities to serve residents for generations to come," said Will County Board member Ragan Freitag, chair of the capital improvement's committee.  "I'm proud our essential capital projects are being built by local labor and creating numerous jobs while not raising taxes and meeting the county's long-term capital needs.  I look forward to seeing these facilities built and the capital plan completed."
