Board members win fight against increased water rates

Illinois American Water users to see less of an increase than proposed

JOLIET, IL – Will County Board members Steve Balich (R-Homer Glen) and Mike Fricilone (R-Homer Glen) today announced they and the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) were successful in appealing a proposed water rate hike by Illinois American Water Company (IAWC).  Consumers in Homer Glen will now pay significantly less for their water than the amount IAWC requested.

“This is a victory for all of our constituents,” said Balich. “It means that working families will be able to keep more money in their pockets and not have to turn it over to American Water Company.”

Board reorganizes for next two years

Four new members sworn-in, leadership re-elected

JOLIET, IL –  The Will County Board this week swore in four new members and unanimously re-elected board leaders. Jim Moustis (R-Frankfort) will continue to serve as speaker, while Republican members then re-elected Chuck Maher (R-Naperville) as their chair and Democrats re-elected Herbert Brooks, Jr. (D-Joliet).

The Board reorganized after newly elected board members were given the oath of office and officially seated. New board members include Laurie Summers (D-Crete), Gloria Dollinger (R-Joliet), Tyler Marcum (D-Joliet), and Tim J. Kraulidis (R-Joliet).

"I'm proud of the recent work accomplished by this board, much of it on a bipartisan basis," said Speaker Moustis. "I look forward to continuing to work with everyone on both sides of the aisle and provide the type of leadership required to move this board forward. Together, we will tackle many important issues for the citizens of Will County, especially a number of capital projects that will make Will County a safer, better place to live."
